Nolvadex (Tamoxifen Citrate) is a potent, highly selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM). It is primarily used to treat breast cancer in postmenopausal women. Nolvadex is also used to reduce the risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal women with hormone-dependent cancer.
Nolvadex (Tamoxifen Citrate) should be taken by mouth with a glass of water 30 to 60 minutes before the planned activity. The dose may be increased to 20 mg/day or reduced to 10 mg/day based on the response.
Nolvadex should be taken with food.
It is not known if Nolvadex should be used as an adjuvant therapy after surgery or radiotherapy. It is also not known if Nolvadex is associated with an increased risk of breast cancer. The drug may be associated with an increased risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal women who have a history of breast cancer. Patients who have a history of breast cancer should not take Nolvadex.
